Dakar Rally
On 4 January in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the city that hosted the DAKAR Rally Edition 2020, the Italian manufacturer launched the TACITA T-Race Rally. Faithful to its spirit of pioneering new countries, which deeply links mobility with the highest spirit of adventure and technological experimentation, the 2020 Dakar Rally which has explored a new continent this January, will also be remembered for an absolute world premiere.
With the toughest rally in the world landing in South Arabia, the 30th country visited by the legendary Dakar, new routes have been explored. It was more than a geographical discovery for the 557 rally competitors.
The Dakar Rally has opened up to the future of mobility and TACITA has taken up the challenge offered by ASO, the organizer of the epic Dakar Rally, eager to promote electric rally racing bikes.
On January 17th, during the final round of this epic event, the TACITA T-Race Rally 2020 joined the entire group of competitors from the “Qiddiyah Grand Prix” to make its first Dakar debut. This was a great opportunity to see the 2020 TACITA T-Race Rally race in full action.
“ASO is encouraging the participation of hybrid and fully electric vehicles in the Dakar and we have accepted the challenge. We are working on the T-Race Rally Dakar 2023 which will be able to face the toughest rally in the world. We are delighted to have such a great opportunity. In 2012 we were the first electric motorcycle ever to run an African rally at the “Rally Merzouga”, and after these years of continuous research and development, we are ready for the Dakar.
“We are happy with the future of the Rally Raid and we know that alternative energies will be part of it. The TACITA project and its all-electric rally bike are a major development axis. And we were delighted to welcome and promote this bike and this team at the start of our first Saudi Dakar in January 2020, “said David Castera, Race Director of the Dakar.
